First Communion Part A

First Communion for my 'catch-up' kids went well this morning. They all looked very nice (despite their threats otherwise) and their families all seemed delighted to have their children in the spotlight for a few minutes. I had them process in and out, bring up the gifts and receive communion first in the congregation. Since they are not avid church-goers, I sat nearby and gave them silent directions. I guess I looked a little bit like an airline hostess giving "GO! NOW!" directions via my flailing arms. It worked even if it looked a bit stupid, so I guess in addition to dishwashing, I could get a job as a hostess if this whole pastoral ministry thing doesn't pan out.

One of the moms was so grateful she tried to give me a large cheque in my name. I told her to make it out to the church instead. It was a nice thought, though.
