Overheard

I was patrolling the halls outside our classrooms during our Homework Club tonight when I overheard the grade fives' reaction to an extra worksheet their tutor brought in for them: "Number Systems and Operations! Woo hoo!"

Maybe we're making some progress with these kids after all...

Also on the way home I overheard another sound byte that made me chuckle. A man, standing outside the subway, asked an approaching woman, "Do you have an extra bus ticket?"

As the woman began to dig in her purse, she said, "I might..."

The man's grateful response as he held up a plastic bag: "I can give you some chicken."

The woman's intelligent response: "I don't need chicken."
