I laughed when one of the altar servers, who is also in our Homework Club, rushed up to me with excitement that rocked him to his very core. With clenched fists, a little bit of jumping and a huge smile, he announced breathlessly to me the other weekend, "I ... saw ... JOE!"
Joe is his math tutor, whom he had spotted among the crowds in the church. It was the first case of celebrity status I had seen in our Homework Club and Joe was delightedly amused by the reaction.
I relayed the story to one of the moms at Homework Club tonight, who informed me that I had achieved celebrity status with her kids too. Apparently when they go to Mass, they look for me and announce, "There she is!" with much excitement. Kind of like "Where's Waldo" featuring the Pastoral Associate. Too cute.
Meanwhile I spent my afternoon in meetings about changes. Big changes and little changes. Ironically, it seems that it will be the little changes that will most likely affect me much more personally than the big changes. I am impatiently awaiting the next two weeks to pass until I get confirmation of the little changes coming our way ... soon.
