It's so important, especially in times of high stress, to have good friends. Not only am I blessed with understanding and kind friends near me and farther afield who are willing to listen and offer advice when I'm not exactly up to par, but I have some really good friends whose company and laughter make me forget all of the cares in the world.
Three of those friends came over for dinner tonight. I made fish - sole creole - for the first time in my life, and we followed things up with an after-dinner Wii tournament. There was a lot of laughing, much competitiveness, too many innuendos about balls when we were playing Sports, and eventually, frequent giggle fits. One of my friends just curled up on the couch and giggled himself silly at the defeat he had caused to his opponent in "Charge!", aka the Cow Game. After I introduced the three to the Fitness tests, they were very competitive over that. The first guy, bravely figuring it out for those who followed, got an age of 53. The second guy got 37. The third guy doesn't seem to excel particularly at video games; Wii "teased" him saying he was only 60, and he watched sadly as that score slide away and his true score of 71 was painfully revealed. My poor neighbours, to hear all that laughing all night. Laughing that wipes the fears and concerns away, at least temporarily.
Thank goodness for friends.
