Father Unwell was feeling better today and was back at work; we were all glad to learn that, and doubly glad that none of the others who live with him seem to be showing signs of the same illness. Whew!
That doesn't mean that the regular insanity stopped, however. The cook asked me to get in touch with a priest who doesn't live at the house and ask him if he forgot a jacket at the rectory on a recent visit. The pastor had hung it at the back door waiting for the visiting priest to pick it up. I emailed the priest and he responded later on that he intentionally left it in the pastor's office because it didn't fit him anymore, and he thought it might fit the pastor. It wound up back in the pastor's office with a note on it. No word yet on whether it fits or not.
I guess the most fun happened while I was at lunch. The doorbell started ringing and the cook answered. A trio of women were all talking at the same time, "No priest! No confessions! No Mass??" The cook found the associate in his office, reading away, and though the schedule indicated otherwise, he insisted the pastor was supposed to say Mass. After checking the schedule twice and expressing his incredulity at his mistake, he ran out to the church to say Mass wearing his slippers.
Just another normal day I guess.
