The boss picked me up this morning to take me to a meeting about some new policies in the diocese which directly affect my work. I technically do not go back to work until Tuesday (Monday is a holiday), but I felt this was very important to hear first hand and I insisted I be allowed to go.
I'm glad I did; I learned a few additional things and their ramifications which affect what I do and how these things should be implemented.
The boss' first words to me when I sat down in his car were, "You are pale." I noted, "I'm always pale." He said, "More pale." I warned him that my stomach has been very off and to drive carefully lest I get sick in his car, and to his credit, while he tends to have a lead foot, he drove very cautiously today and even apologized when he flew over a speed bump without realizing that's what it was. My stomach fortunately cooperated on both trips and he caught me up on a few of the things going on in the parish while inquiring as to how I had been doing and what I had been eating (he seemed a bit fascinated about how one can subsist on toast, soup, potatoes, chicken and other bland foods).
I did ask him about starting back on Sunday for a few hours, but he told me to wait until Tuesday. So, I shall do that, and enjoy my restful long weekend.
