Calm After The Storm

Saturday, May 30, 2009
I happened to be home tonight to watch a fast-moving thunderstorm arrive in the area. I grabbed my camera as the menacing clouds rolled in and snapped the first photo, with falling raindrops surprisingly visible, and then spent some time trying to time a shot right to capture a lightning bolt. I failed on the second count (but have succeeded in the past, so I wasn't too frustrated about it) and walked away to water my orchid.

When I turned around and looked outside again, I was stunned to see a perfect rainbow, a double rainbow in fact, appearing in the sky.

I have recently befriended someone who takes photos semi-professionally at weddings and other functions. Hopefully he can teach me a few things about photography, the first of which, I am sure, will be to invest in something more professional than my point-and-click camera! However, I must say I think it did a pretty good job tonight.

I missed the rainbows! Darn!

And the scrambly word thingy says, "dycorks", which I find funny for some reason.
