Vimpa: The veil worn over altar servers' shoulders and around their hands as they bear the pontificalia (the crozier and mitre) for the bishop.Add this one to the list of things I never knew before I entered this job... and things I hope I don't witness in use at tonight's Confirmation. I've been told they may instead wear white gloves. If so, hopefully the bishop will bring them himself; all I have available is latex.
(Vimpa, as I learned from Google images, is also a really, really ugly fish.)
