After a bit of a crazy week, I thought it was more than necessary for some serious downtime this weekend. Outside of the necessary chores and laundry, I would do whatever I wanted and go wherever the Spirit moved me.
After laundry and cleaning I checked out airline fares for a flight I hope to take in October, and then I went and opened a savings account, something I have been meaning to do for a while now that I actually have something to put into it.
I intended to go for a hike in a nearby ravine, but the heavens opened as I set out right after lunch, so I opted instead to wait until things brightened up a bit. When I set out again, I went down the street to where one of my munchkins has a lemonade stand every Friday afternoon, and paid very generously for my beverage. We chatted for a bit, and her dad came out to say hello as well. Funnily enough I passed ten different parishioners on the little walk I took afterwards, just randomly, checking out local fruit stands. Eventually I bought some potato salad at an upscale deli in the neighbourhood and came back, watched 30 Rock, and made myself a double batch of sole creole for dinner, half of which I have frozen for next week.
Perhaps the hike will happen tomorrow. Or not. I'm also thinking about checking out a comedy festival tomorrow night. Or not. It's sort of nice, for a change, to have an unscheduled weekend where I can just do whatever I feel like doing.
