Next I headed home, set up my video game and tried out a few of the games. They're very well done and I think hours of fun will follow.
Just before 1pm I headed out to meet my recently ordained friend at my favourite Thai hole in the wall where we enjoyed each other's company and a plate of delightful and cheap pad thai. He filled me in on his life in the last month, as well as some other juicy tidbits I was keen to learn about. He brought me a gift I was not expecting in the slightest: apparently as an ordination gift, a family friend had a box full of relics and offered him whatever he wanted. He found one in the box for my patron saint, St. Lucy, and claimed it for me. The friend was concerned I wouldn't like it because there was no certificate of authenticity, but as he noted to the friend, it was ideal for me, and besides, relics are more a matter of faith than authenticity. I was really touched. (The relic pictured is not the one he gave me, but it looks very similar). We ended off our visit with a 3km walk for the best gelato in the city (I had chocolate, peanut butter honey and crunchy caramel, oh my!) and a promise to catch up again whenever possible.
I returned home with a bit of a sunburn and rested before I delved back into the Sports Resort. As perfect as a Friday can be, really.
