Day "Off"

Bright and early this morning, I headed to Ikea where I picked up a couple of frames for my little photography project. I had no idea the frames would be as large and heavy as they were; despite my ongoing attempts to avoid such situations, my purchases made me "that girl" on the subway struggling to carry them and a lovely little codiaeum "croton" plant I found for $1.50 with which I fell in love and subsequently, couldn't leave behind.

While riding a shuttle bus from Ikea to the subway, I called into work and decided to go in instead of spending two more sleepless nights worrying about my crazy Sunday. When I arrived, I gathered everything I could in one spot so I would not have to come into work any earlier than necessary on Sunday (my usual starting time, 7:15am, is plenty early; if I hadn't done what I did today, I would have had to show up shortly after 6am on Sunday to make the day's schedule work).
Just before I arrived at work, I witnessed a transit employee being verbally assaulted by an older man who must have been suffering from a bad case of entitlement. He approached the vehicle at an intersection which was not a transit stop, called the driver a vulgar name, kicked the vehicle's doors, and when the driver refused to open the doors both at that spot, the man continued his tirade on the other side of the intersection. The driver refused to let him on, called transit control for help, and eventually let the other passengers on but told the man he would not be allowed on the vehicle. I jumped when I was deboarding at the station when I discovered the man right behind me, having caught the next transit vehicle. How people like that don't get charged is beyond me.
Work done, I popped into the grocery store and did the weekly shop, headed back and did the weekly laundry, headed to the hardware store to get a pot and some soil for my new croton, and got some milk on the way home.
I have pretty much done nothing except fix a rather bizarre dinner for myself and don't anticipate too much more being accomplished on this particular day. Tomorrow is a new day, though, and I hope to check out another arts festival in town just to look around for some inspiration and enjoy a lovely day off.
