After yesterday's non-stop meeting schedule, today was rather boring. I finalized the youth group meeting for Sunday, I did some paperwork, and I turned my attention to planning for the children's choir and their Christmas appearances. Yeah, it's only week one of the choir's public appearance, but I'm a bit ambitious. Blame it on Gareth Malone. I did settle on two songs for a Christmas party appearance: 'Mary, Did You Know?' and 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas'. I'm still thinking about Christmas Eve Mass and will probably have some time to do that tomorrow before I attend a meeting in the afternoon where we've been asked to dress in black and orange. Sometimes clergy are weird.
Late yesterday afternoon I got a phone call from the diocese asking me to organize a major diocesan prayer event for young people, which I did last year. I had had no intention of doing this again, but my boss told me he wanted me to do it. I asked the diocese for more help than they provided last year and they said that would be possible. The diocese rep was disappointed that the guest of honour who was there last year likely wouldn't be present this year, and told me to contact him immediately and tell him they'd pay for the flight from Europe (!). I said I would give it a shot but promised nothing, yet within six hours, I had the guest booked. So, we just need to get our choir together and it's a go again for the spring.
What have I gotten myself into?
