Doctor Visit: Updated

Monday, November 9, 2009

I saw my retinologist this morning for my annual check-up. He asked me how everything was, and I said I haven't seen anything weird by my standards, and he said that is what he likes to hear. He examined me and said, "Nothing to report," and I said that is what I like to hear. I see him again in February 2011 unless anything comes up.

I was, however, rather bemused when I got into my seat, started to read my book and heard a familiar name called. The guy next to me got up -- it was the bishop. Again. That's the second time in five weeks that I have been at the hospital and sat right next to the poor fellow. This time he was all dressed up in his clerics and ready to head to a seminar being held this week.

I'm pretty sure that if he sees me sitting next to him a third time as he's awaiting a medical procedure, he'll almost certainly seek a restraining order against me!

A little update: I forgot to mention that the bishop was reading this book on Church history. I had to peek at the cover, of course! I mentioned my encounter to one of our resident priests who laughed and suggested I should have said, "We have to stop meeting like this," but I told him I was sure that would bring on the restraining order much faster. Pretending not to notice was definitely the route to go.
