I arrived just before 7am to set up for the Christmas pageant and to organize the rest of the day which included the Youth Group Christmas party as well as a regular Sunday schedule.
Ex-haust-ing.
The pageant went quite well with a few cute little glitches. One of the kindergarten students said she wanted to give Baby Jesus the gift of "nookie" for Christmas. Hmm. The MCs were supposed to pass Mary the Baby Jesus doll and that got forgotten until I whispered to the narrator to do it and a plastic Baby Jesus flew out of the wings and into the arms of Mary. It was a miracle delivery.
The associate did a great job on the piano, my choir wasn't too bad, and I managed to find a little Mary and Joseph for Christmas Eve mass from those in attendance, so we're good to go.
The youth group Christmas party was a little ... chaotic. All of them seemed to be on too much sugar and were screaming too much, fighting too much, whining too much and generally being uncooperative too much. I'm glad it's Christmas break for them -- I think we all need a month to recollect ourselves.
One of the dads very kindly gave me a lift home. After 9 hours on my foot, I am in quite a bit of pain so I plan to do nothing but sit on my behind for the next 20 hours or so.
