It was a slow night at tutoring tonight; I had 7 tutors call in for various reasons and almost as many kids fail to show up. (Somehow the Holy Spirit always balances our numbers for me. I have no idea how she does it, but I really appreciate it!)
Since it was a movie day for the upper grades at the school, only three of the usual eight showed up and they wanted to play cards. By the end of the night, their tutor was teaching them Blackjack. I assured the parents it was teaching them numbers and how to count to 21... all important numeracy. Ahem.
I asked my favourite little "boyfriend" what he wanted Santa to bring him for Christmas. He smirked as he said, "I asked Santa to make me rich and famous!" Then he added with a smirk, "And to bring me a girlfriend." I guess I have been replaced ;)
