Wonderful Weekend

Despite having some ambulatory issues, I was so touched that a new friend of mine wanted to come, visit to see if I was okay and to help me out if I needed anything. He arrived around 4pm yesterday after a long drive and we had some tea before heading out to a very nice Chinese restaurant on the waterfront. He was concerned about where to park so I wouldn't have to walk too far and was just a real gentleman with such a great sense of humour the whole time. We returned to my place afterwards as he had made me a chocolate cheesecake -- a 'get well' gift -- which we both enjoyed for dessert. Somehow we talked so much and had so much fun that we were aghast when we looked at our watches and saw it was past 11:30pm, and I had to get up for work at 6am.

Being tired today at work was worth it. :) Getting back after holidays wasn't too bad - 7 voicemails, 40 some emails - and a Christmas pageant rehearsal to coordinate which was more than a little chaotic. Right on time, after the last Mass, my friend appeared from among the congregation and we went for brunch/lupper nearby. He drove me home so I wouldn't have to stay on my feet much longer - my Sundays usually consist of non-stop standing for seven hours - and he checked and double-checked that I didn't need any groceries or anything else before he set out on the long drive home.

Despite having some ambulatory issues ... what a wonderful weekend.
