We ran our weekly club for tutoring kids last night. I had a new six-year-old join the group whose mom wanted him to learn how to read. He brought two books with him, but they weren't enough and halfway through the session he had run out of material.
He was working in our library with a volunteer, and surrounded by books, he asked to read one of them. I told him to choose one.
"A Theology of Catholic Marriage and Annulment" was his selection.
I giggled and told him to have fun reading it. He came back to the library a few minutes later and said, "We're done this book."
He chose another, "The Liturgy of the Hours of the Blessed Virgin Mary".
Go for it, kiddo. He came back again, saying, "This book is mostly in Latin."
A third try produced "The Eucharist", written by an Order of the Friar Servants of Mary priest.
I think, next time, his Mommy will pack her little boy a few extra picture books!
