Back to Work

I was back at work bright and early yesterday. The associate told me he had opened the church on my behalf because he didn't know if I would be in and I thanked him for that. He asked about my vacation and filled me in on some of the happenings around the parish. Later I ran into my boss, who acted like I had been there the whole time, not even saying good morning without prompting.

My desk wasn't as scary as I thought and I had pretty much caught up all of the outstanding details - or had a good start on them - by 10am. Somehow I survived the parents' group I led and the children's choir despite wanting to tape a few of them to the floor so they would stop running around in circles.

Coincidentally I had a guest speaker come in for my youth in the afternoon, which was the best idea I ever had that I hadn't intentionally planned that way. He was very entertaining and we had a very decent turn out for the talk. The kids learned all about how to fill in the "God-sized hole" in their hearts and thus, how to develop a closer relationship with God. I also got them on board for a couple of social justice activities coming up next month, had a mini-birthday party for one of them, and then sent them home. I took the guest speaker out to dinner afterwards, came home, phoned a friend, and then collapsed into my bed where I regained consciousness 12 hours later.

Today I have my performance appraisal. This should be interesting ... though I'm not sure yet whether that will be true in a positive or negative way.
