A good friend called me up and asked if I was game for dinner after work. I agreed, and during the course of our chat, he filled me in on his liturgical planning for various events. One is a set of rules he has named VIRUS.
For those in the know, VIRUS is like The GIRM. It stands for "Various Instructions Regarding Unusual Situations," rules that apply for events like ordinations, church rededications and the like -- all liturgically unusual situations. Such rules may include having a halved lemon available so a bishop may easily wash and remove chrism on his hands after consecrations, and other tips and tricks that my friend has discovered along the way.
He notes that where there is any disagreement, VIRUS always supercedes GIRM.
I got a good chuckle out of that and may start compiling my own VIRUS for Confirmations and other major church liturgies.
