I am in search of a children's Lectionary after our most recent school Mass.
After the presider saw that the teachers chose a Gospel reading as a second reading, he pulled rank and told the school that they couldn't choose their own readings for the school Mass -- they had to use the readings of the day from now on.
Thus, today was the day when a group of grade one students learned how to say the name "Melchizedek". Over and over and over again.
The principal made light of the situation, announcing in front of the whole school, "You will all remember this Mass forever, boys and girls -- the day you learned about the order of Melchizedek!"
Now I'm scrambling to try to find a lectionary approved for use with children. Unfortunately, with all of the new lectionary translations being implemented slowly, it's proving to be an impossible feat.

When our children first were in the local school the pastor at the time allowed the school to choose the readings and they would also put together their own prayers of the faithful (the readings came from a children's bible that dumbed it down so badly that it was ridiculous).
Then we got a new pastor.
The new pastor told the school that the readings of the day were to be "The Readings of the Day" and that the lectors are to do the readings.
(The lectors were to prepare by prayer and study prior to the reading of Sacred Scripture)
Most of the children who read weren't bad to read but some would be smiling at friends, laughing up at the front, reading way too fast or barely able to read, etc...)
The Prayers of the faithful were borderline heresy in some situations. (the teachers wrote them out)
For the last two school seasons that school has decided not to have as many masses at the church. Now they have have "virtue prayer services" at the school to punish the pastor.
The two other schools that are within the church boundaries - have been fine with his directives and even rent buses every so often to get the children down to the church for school masses. (Reading done by teachers who the pastor chose - who actually attended mass)
I am not a fan of The "Children's" Lectionary.
