A Day of Unexpected Offers

I received two offers today that were highly unexpected; one I accepted, one I turned down.

The one I accepted came shortly after I arrived at the office. Our associate, who has had painfully little to say to me since his arrival six months ago, but who seems to have been slowly warming up to me and vice versa, appeared at my door and asked if I wanted to go to the opera. Did I! He couldn't use his tickets because of a prior commitment, so I found myself a date and accepted gratefully.

The one I declined came at lunch time. A local school board, the same one who phoned me about a dream job before Christmas, offered me an interview slot for this week. I had to explain that I was committed elsewhere at this time, but to keep me on the list for the future. They seem to be a little bad in the communication department, or perhaps a little desperate, since this is the third call I have had about the same job by three different people since December. Oh well - at least I know my c.v. is still being looked at.
