Gung Hay Fat Choy!

When I woke up, I prayed first thing: "Please Lord, don't let it just be me and the pastor who show up to the Lunar New Year celebration tonight..." Later, I prayed, "Lord, I know I sound like Abraham here, but please move at least twenty hearts to attend..." Then, "Lord, I would consider this a success if 50 people showed up. I know that is a lot to ask for a first year but ..."

After 3 hours of decorating and preparation, more than sixty people poured through the doors and pounced on the food even before the pastor arrived to say grace.

Much to my relief, the pastor was too late to get a pig and ended up getting some meat trays instead.

We apparently had one of the Chinese sign decorations upside down -- only the pastor noticed, though, so no harm done, I'm sure.

Despite the fact that not too many people brought food (it was a "potluck"), we had more than enough to go around. Perhaps it was a case of multiplication of Peking duck and BBQ pork!
