Party, Party

My weekends seem to be filled with social functions and parties lately. Last weekend was the pre-ontological change party, and this week was the post-Epiphany party at another house. I have another couple next weekend and then things should quiet down a bit. I felt a little awkward about going tonight being of the really old guard, but the host promised me one of his famous margaritas and that was all the sell I needed. Last year he gave me a beer-sized cup of margarita and I became so intoxicated (I am not a big drinker at all) I ended up trying on other people's shoes in an effort to find mine at the end of the night. Not good.

I walked in the door tonight and my boss was standing on the other side. I decided then and there to be very good at the party. I also chastised him for telling me he wasn't going and then deciding at the last minute to go, while I fought my way down on transit for over an hour. He promised to give me a lift home which I gratefully accepted on this very cold night.

It was nice to catch up mainly with the religious and the professors. I had a normal-sized margarita -- worth the hour on transit indeed! -- and caught up with several people. I also introduced my boss to my potential replacement for the seminarian who has been helping us out at the parish for several years. They promised to get together to talk about the possibilities next week. The seminarian who is leaving also filled me in on his placement, which he learned about this morning; I am very happy for him but he will be sorely missed.

I have been feeling like I'm coming down with something for the past twenty-four hours so I will lie low tomorrow and try to gear myself up for what promises to be a very busy week at the parish.
