Part of last night's prayer included reading a Gospel passage in different languages. The guest of honour chose John 7:37-39. I had no idea what languages I could expect to be represented at the prayer last night, so I used an online Bible translation site and just printed up a few I thought would likely make an appearance -- Tagalog, Italian, Spanish, German, Dutch, Ukrainian, English, French, Korean and Chinese. I showed my boss the reading in Chinese and asked if he could find someone to read it for me. He looked it over and said, "This doesn't make sense!" I apologized, reminding him I don't read Chinese so I just copied it off the Internet and had hoped for the best. He said he would see what he could do, and left to do some research.
Shortly afterwards, he found me again and had a Catholic Bible in Chinese in his hands. He located the passage when I repeated the pericope for him and said, "Ah yes, I see why yours didn't make sense. It must be Protestant."
