Blackout

Sunday, July 12, 2009
Just before I left for work this morning there was a short blackout, perhaps two minutes long, before the power returned. I didn't think anything of it until I got to work, flipped on the lights and ... whoops, no power. We didn't have power the whole time I was there, and despite a phone call to the power company, nothing changed during that time period. The readers had to really project their voices and read with little flashlights we use at the Easter Vigil, and the altar servers were everyone's friends since they were holding the candles. There was lots of teasing that Father forgot to pay the electricity bill. Lots of people said they liked it; I sort of liked it too, since it felt very retro, as in 18th century retro. Four masses later, there was still no power.

Right before I left on a field trip bowling with my munchkins, Father found me and asked to use my cell phone since none of the phones in the office were working. He needed to phone his mom; how cute. I just hoped, after I agreed, that she wasn't living in Hong Kong still...

The kids had a good time bowling, but they completely wore me out. I'm going to crawl into bed and I expect tomorrow morning will come too soon.
