Good News and Bad News

Friday, August 28, 2009
The good news is I had a good visit with my glaucoma specialist this morning who informed me that I can fly safely; what I thought was a gas bubble is just a Weiss' Ring and is simply annoying, not harmful.

The bad news is that the flight I intended to book today more than doubled in price in the last six hours. This is not the first time this has happened since I have been keeping an eye on it (pardon the pun...), so I'm going to wait a few days instead of accepting the price hike and just see if it comes down again or not.

In other news, I met an old friend downtown after my appointment. He enjoyed the tale of my hapless excursion to the doctor, which culminated in a cabbie named Wally who picked me up literally, and then tried to pick me up figuratively as well. On the journey back home on the bus, my friend made a completely off-colour comment about my history which was overheard by a disturbing little man who reacted by giving me a massive smile and a disgusting wink. Shudder.
