Today was my first late start day of the fall thanks to our tutoring program getting back up and running. I had six new registrations, and only one drop out from last year since he graduated, so we're bursting at the seams. The parents seemed very supportive and the turn out of tutors was spectacular, but I still need at least two more. The only other problem is a physical one -- barely enough room to contain everybody. I will have to cap the registrations because we just can't accommodate more kids.
One of the Catholic tutors said to me before she left, "I can't make it next week. It's Yom Kippur." I looked a bit incredulously at her and she explained she has a Jewish friend. I thanked her for the most awesome excuse I have ever heard at the parish yet.
The only other bizarre thing today was a call from one of my colleagues who asked if she could borrow a DVD. I agreed, and she sent a cab to pick it up. I have never sent a DVD by cab before. I wonder if it was a pricey journey.
