Yesterday I was feeling too rough to post anything. Around 11am I was sitting in my office when I got hit with one of the top five worst migraines of my life - probably #2 or #3. I couldn't move, I couldn't focus my eyes on anything, I was just paralyzed with this thing. I decided after a prolonged period of sitting as still as possible to head home for an early lunch, since usually I eat like a total pig and feel better, but en route home and then at home it become painfully clear that whatever I put in my stomach would not stay there. Unfortunately I had to return to work for an important meeting and at one point while sitting and listening to the boss speak, I saw my first migraine aura. I have never been one of those folks who could see colours or visual distortions before and during a migraine, but I believe I had one briefly about 2 hours before the migraine set in (only I didn't know what it was) and I certainly had one yesterday afternoon. The boss kept flashing blue, like there was a spotlight on him, and my eyes couldn't focus on him. It was completely bizarre and rather frightening. The other thing was there didn't seem to be a specific trigger, except the weather being very hot and humid after a prolonged period of cool and dry weather. The migraine departed about an hour after that with almost no warning or gradual lessening of pain -- just poof!, and gone. The only residual effects were a bit of nausea and some weird feeling of light-headedness and disconnect from the world; I couldn't focus on my computer screen or my work much after that, so I did what I could before heading home and when home, I just got into bed. I have never had a headache like that before and am grateful I see my primary care physician next week.
Otherwise ... things are rolling along. Today is a busy and late one, with a school visit at the end of the day. The principal is finally letting me in. I spoke to the boss about this yesterday and he was quite supportive; I appreciated that. I also got a couple of other projects given to me to do, and a couple of ideas approved, so things are rolling along at almost full speed now. Hopefully with all this wacky weather my head will cooperate today.
