Free Day!

Today marks one of my first two-day weekends in a very long while; if I didn't specifically request a day off, I always found myself being called into work. I was starting to get used to it.

Even though I was up at 6:45am and ready for the call, it never came, so by 7:30am I was excitedly planning my unexpectedly free day. I decided to, after a hellish week, make it a "me" day. I ended up getting some groceries for my very bare fridge, and then I headed out to get new shoes - something that has been a rather pressing need as my favourite pair are noticeably deteriorating. I found a great pair - on sale! - quickly, and then went and bought myself the 30 Rock Season 3 DVDs with my Christmas money. Next, I headed to my favourite clothing store where I found loads of wonderful things on sale. I settled on four of those before coming home for a quick lunch.

After lunch: H1N1 shot. I got to the clinic minutes after it opened and found that I was given a slip to return in 45 minutes. While I was waiting, I went and tried on four pairs of yoga jeans - hoping they would be my newest "happy pants" - but alas, they were all about 4 inches too short. I preordered a pair with a 36" inseam which they expect to arrive in February, and then headed back to the clinic about 30 minutes after I originally arrived. They jumped me ahead in line around those who were just arriving and didn't have a magic little red sheet of paper indicating an appointment, and I was off on a just longer than one hour journey from start to finish, waiting in various spots around the clinic. Not bad at all. I am now home to rest for a bit before I head out for dinner with a seminarian. I feel fine, but I took Tylenol before I left and will take some again very shortly. I'm also icing my arm as I usually do, and actually, it so far hurts less than the regular flu vaccine. Fingers crossed.
