I had the youth group back this afternoon to undecorate from Christmas. We took the trees out, put the manger scene away, packed up the lights and stored everything back in the basement.

When the elderly priest came home he was upset to see the trees outside: apparently we had taken them down 3 days too early, and should have waited until the Baptism of the Lord.

I thought after the Epiphany, we could undecorate. Am I wrong?

Well, my theologian-in-residence is insisting that we keep up our Christmas decorations until the weekend for the same reason. Since the Liturgy of the Hours volume for Advent-Christmas also goes until the Baptism of the Lord, I find I don't have much to argue from!

Hmm, thanks, Andrea. The Flower Guild is planning to strip everything else (the wreathes and flowers) on Saturday, before the weekend Masses, so I just figured we were okay. Oh well. Next time.
