I tried not to dwell on it last night but made some contingency plans before retiring in case it was a worst case scenario. Fortunately I was busy all morning and didn't have much time to get too worried. I calmed down even more when I overheard him invite the secretary to lunch with us -- whew! The meeting, as it turned out, was exclusively a "delegation" session where the boss dumped at least six major events on me to coordinate, set up by myself -- tables and chairs included -- and arrange all of the catering, programs, invitations, and so on. I just wish he would learn how to delegate to someone else...
Delegation Abounds
Today wasn't exactly what I would term an "easy" day at my workistry. Yesterday the boss, looking very pensive, came in and asked me if I could see him in his office tomorrow morning. Having not been exactly employee of the month in terms of my attendance this month, my stomach dropped, and he also mentioned that he needed a sick note for my employee file. Ugh. A few minutes later, he returned, saying he wanted to go out to lunch after our discussion. "Crap," was my only thought which I did not verbalize; he has never, ever asked me out to lunch one-on-one before. "This can't be good," I thought.
