Weather Outside Is Somewhat Frightful

It's snowy and blowy here for the first time pretty much all winter, and it effectively shut down my tutoring program. After the fifth call from a tutor refusing to come, I called the other four I hadn't heard from and told them to stay home. I couldn't imagine that many kids would show up, and I was right. Only the two smallest souls showed up, one of whom I had to send away because of a language issue (none of us who did show are francophonie), and the other I worked with on his spelling and sent him home when he finished ten minutes later.

Two tutors did show up since they didn't get my message, and one very kindly pushed the youth group's donations from the basketball fundraising to $700.01. I'm so pleased with the results, especially after the group collected merely $26 last year for a Lenten social justice project! We've come a long way and the kids worked really hard. I don't think the boss believed me when I showed him the pledges this afternoon.

As I was fighting a weather-related migraine and wasn't feeling that inspired to do anything too challenging, I worked on finding translations of John 6:35-40 for an upcoming archdiocesan event. I am going to run three of the languages by the boss, the cook and the custodian tomorrow to see if they make sense in their native tongues, and I'll have to trust the Internet on the Korean, Ukrainian, Polish and Tagalog translations and hope they make sense the night of the big event.
