Rising Productivity

Although my doctor told me I should be off all week, I returned to the office all day today and felt halfway decent most of the day except for a massive pounding headache. (I did work yesterday from home for most of the day after the secretary made me feel so bad about coming into the office; she actually ran by my office door with her arm covering her mouth like I had the actual plague. This continued today, except she kept announcing, "Oops, I touched the doorknob!" before going to wash her hands again.)

I managed to label 45 chocolate eggs, create and publish a schedule for Triduum for our servers, finish a 13-page Triduum Order of Service for the priests, and closed the books on Marriage Prep and that diocesan event. I was proud of all I managed to accomplish, but still felt a twinge of guilt that I was off sick on Monday and will be off again tomorrow for overtime owed.

Sigh.

I was a little slow on the uptake today. I noticed our associate, sometime between yesterday's meeting and today, had a haircut. I commented on this, saying, "You had your hair cut." He responded, "I had all of them cut, actually," and obviously I didn't take it as he meant it because my brain went absolutely awful places trying to figure out what he meant by that. Eventually I realized what he meant and groaned internally.

Clearly I need a day off, one without a fever.
