I trekked out in a blizzard yesterday to say hello -- and goodbye for the Christmas holidays -- to a group of kids with whom I work closely. I questioned my sanity at the time, but in the end, I'm glad that I went. I saw the principal on the way out as I was wrapping myself back up to face the snow. He said, "You really love these kids." Indeed, I do; there's not too many people in the world for whom I would brave a blizzard.
Now I'm contemplating a problem I was hoping not to have to experience right now. I have a field trip scheduled for another group of my munchkins tomorrow afternoon, this time for our first social justice activity. However, yet another significant storm is apparently on the way. Do I wait and see what the weather does, and make the call tomorrow? Do I make other arrangements now while I can? Do I take the kids no matter what since it's all scheduled?
Winter's unpredictability. Gotta love it.
