I arrived at my workistry at 7:15am this morning and found the boss in the sacristy. His first statement to me was, "Why are you here? You are not due back until tomorrow." He seemed to have forgotten the 5th in his counting: "Vacation until July 4, return to work July 6." I offered to go home but he didn't insist on it.
Fortunately my desk certainly wasn't swamped and I got caught up very quickly. I asked if I could borrow the boss' guitar so I might be able to teach myself to play in the coming weeks since he is adamant he wants a children's choir and playing the piano while teaching and singing isn't working too smoothly for me.
After the final mass one of our faithful asked me if I was free for a tea, so I agreed, packed up my purse and guitar and we headed to a nearby establishment. She talked, I listened, and we walked home in the same direction afterwards. I spent the afternoon teaching myself guitar and have mastered single notes, though I have a bit of work to do on chords since my hands are very small and I can't seem to get the F chord to sound properly with the stretching involved. Not bad for a couple of hours work, though.
