Despite downing a half a pound of jellybeans this morning, my milestone day at my workistry wasn't the best. The secretary was out all morning on a scheduled absence, and the task of answering the door, checking all the phone messages, writing Mass cards, making sandwiches and the like came to me. I usually don't mind, but when I overheard a conversation from a priest next door I nearly used an Obama-type descriptor at him. He claimed in a phone conversation, "The secretary is off, so I have been run off my feet answering the door and dealing with everything around here."
He hadn't got off his behind once. No exaggeration, not even once.
After delivering the third sandwich to the door of the morning, I was leaving for lunch and was stopped by the most recent recipient who expressed his discontent over the quality of the sandwich in rather colloquial terms before throwing it at my feet.
In the afternoon something was definitely afoot from on high. Of course, I will not be privy to that information likely until I read it in an external memo.
Sigh... This place really is a rollercoaster sometimes.
